Andrea Vela, AMFT
Female therapist, Sacramento California, bilingual therapist

Do you appear to have it all together on the outside but inside you are searching for relief? Is it difficult for you to ask for help because you think you should not feel this way? I can collaborate with you to rebuild your confidence and reestablish trust in your own instincts so you can feel in control of your life again. I can offer you tools to harness your emotions, set healthy boundaries unique to you, and help you create lasting relationships through self-discovery.

My focus is working with motivated couples and adult individuals using a trauma informed, multicultural, client-centered approach. My work is influenced by attachment theory (how we connect with others) and systems theory (how patterns of interaction affect individuals, couples, and families), with an emphasis on emotions and how to live in the present.

Issues I am passionate about include depression, anxiety, substance use, young helping professionals (i.e., mental health, nurses, advocacy, dieticians, etc.), social justice issues, romantic relationships, and the Gottman Method for couples’ therapy.

If you are interested in working with me or seeing if I am the right fit for you, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation and can be reached at (916) 238-8462. I am available Mon-Thur, 10am – 6pm and Fri, 10am – 4pm. I am here to support you whenever you are ready. Email me at [email protected]
