MEET THE BOARD

ClayClayton “Clay” Hughes, MA

Secretary

Clay joined the team to fulfill his personal goal to inspire staff and couples to achieve their greatest potential through educational programming that is effective, relevant, and innovative.  He is fueled by his passion for the theory behind couples counseling and his love of education, resulting in the highest possible degree of cohesion between education and service delivery for providers and staff. As a general practice when considering a program for Couples Resource Collective, he attends programs as a participant so he may understand firsthand the challenges of participating in classes as well as determining the administrative needs before submitting his review and recommendation to the Board. He graduated with a Master of Art in Couples and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, Sacramento in August 2016.

William “Billy” Schult, MAbilly

Treasurer

Billy found his passion working with couples and individuals who are motivated to create space for growth and understanding. He feels that positive outcomes from individual and couples counseling will always include two very simple things: The creation of an environment where safety is ensured, and genuine commitment to the process. Through his experience he has come to believe that beneath the biggest problems we have are more approachable ones that offer us a greater opportunity to find success in the short-term, which allows us to begin the process of repair. Billy often states: Repair is a motivating and positively-contagious experience and it empowers us to reinforce long-term solutions like maintaining lasting connection and healthy boundaries.

Being involved in the field and in the community has always been important to Billy and to-that-end he worked with David Clark to co-found the Couples Resource Collective. He has also served as Treasurer for the Sacramento District of AAMFT-CA in 2015 and is currently Treasurer for SVC-CAMFT. His training includes being a certified instructor for Mastering The Mysteries of Love, certification for Prepare-Enrich, and level II training and externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy

Billy earned a master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in Sacramento and a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at California State University, Sacramento as well as two associate degrees in Anthropology and Social Sciences at American River College, Sacramento. Billy lives in Sacramento with his wife who is a Deaf and Hard of Hearing specialist as well as an ASL instructor. He is currently a Special Education School Counselor for Amador County Office of Education and pursues his love of music as vocalist of a local cover-band.
